Myrtis Varine Kuhlman, 92, of State Center, passed away on Tuesday, May 12, 2026, at Glenwood Place in Marshalltown.
Funeral services for Myrtis will be held on Saturday, May 16, 2026, at 1:00 p.m. at Trinity Lutheran Church in State Center. Visitation will be on Friday, May 15, from 4:00 p.m. until 6:00 p.m. at the Mitchell Family Funeral Home in Marshalltown. Myrtis Varine Drevs was born on April 20, 1934, in Moville, Iowa. She was the daughter of Christian Ludwig Johan and Beulah Rachel (Harmes) Drevs. Myrtis graduated high school in 1952, then went on to receive her teaching degree at the Iowa State Teachers College. On June 27, 1959, Myrtis was united in marriage to Caryl Kuhlman in Moville, Iowa. She worked on the farm with Caryl as well as at Spread-All Manufacturing. Myrtis was a member of the Saint John’s Ladies Aid, Neighborly Helpers Club, and various card clubs. She enjoyed farming, birdwatching, hummingbirds, signing in the choir, reading, and fishing in Canada.
Myrtis is survived by the “daughter she never had”: Trisha Adams of State Center and grandson: Brandon Biensen of Boone. Myrtis is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by her husband: Caryl; parents: Christian and Beulah and siblings: Kenneth Leroy Drevs, Robert Merlin Drevs, Howard Duane Drevs, and Everett Eugene Drevs.
