The Mitchell Family Funeral Home is caring for Nancy and her family. Ph 844-1234. Nancys last wishes expressed were No Frills, No Tears, No Suits, No Ties- no somber affair- wear would you would to just come and visit! Nancy was one to keep everyone on their toes- even the nurses and doctors at Mary Greeley. If it werent for the skill and care of Dr. Milt, the family would not have known the extent of her illness. Dr. Hitchins and the close and skilled nurses at Iowa City made her feel comfortable and gave the feeling of safe care. Nancys gift of gab made her rich with friends. Owning a rubber stamp store in Marshalltown put her in the publics eye where she was overwhelmed with new girlfriends. It was at her store she was given the best advice she could ever get from a friend forever, Jone Henze, who told her, Nancy- you need God. It was at Center Street Baptist Church that Nancy grew in her faith and was blessed to have pastors like Bobby Shomo and Hirsch Chizever. They had many talks mostly she did the talking- needing answers to her many liberal questions. Pastor Charlie didnt get too far from Nancys reach either. Her intent was to see how red his face could get since he was shy at times. Pastor Corvin was also Nancys friend and will never be forgotten.Nancy lived simply and liked things that way. She had many friends from IVH where she worked as a nurse- especially Denise and Gladys Mackenzie whom she kept in touch with. She was also blessed with babies and toddlers at her daycare, though she was never to have her own children, sometimes with over 15 at a time. She loved to read, watch the Jerry Lewis Telethon and was blessed with her first love David and her last love, her best friend George or Gene to many of his friends. Nancy will be remembered by her husband of nearly 20 years, George, his children Myran Jones of Marshalltown, Craig (Lori) Jones of Dundes, MN., Brenda (Jerry) Starn of Marshalltown and Melissa (Stacy) Voigt of Marshalltown, sisters Sandy Fetters (the older one) and Kathy Wood (the brat), 14 grandchildren, three great-grandchildren, nephews Mike, Ron and Phil Pickett and nieces Tanya and Lisa as well as numerous friends and her church family. The family wishes to thank and send hugs to Everett and Bev, Bob Polley and endless church friends whose calls, cards, and signs of faith inspired her.
