Nancy Sorem

Nancy Ann Sorem, 81, of Marshalltown, passed away on Thursday, February 21, 2019 at Mercy Medical Center in Des Moines.   Memorial services for Nancy will be held on Wednesday, February 27, 2019 at 11:00 a.m. at Hope United Methodist Church in Marshalltown. Mitchell Family Funeral Home is caring for Nancy and her family.   Nancy Ann Koehler was born on January 29, 1938 in Colo, Iowa to John and Maxine Koehler. She graduated Colo High School in 1956. On September 27, 1958, Nancy was united in marriage to Sherman Sorem in Marshalltown. Sherman passed away in 2005. Nancy was very active in her church; Hope United Methodist in Marshalltown. She enjoyed crocheting; especially hats, mittens and slippers, and would give them away to her friends. Nancy also enjoyed baking items to give to the members of her church; and also enjoyed music.   Nancy is survived by her children: Scott (Susan) Sorem of rural Gladbrook, Jeff Sorem of Marshalltown and Ted (Kim) Sorem of Marshalltown. She is also survived by seven grandchildren, five great grandchildren and her sisters, Mary Francis Schrader, Barbara Sweet and Midge Hildreth.   Nancy is preceded in death by her husband Sherman, parents John and Maxine and brother Robert “Butch” Koehler.
