Nancy Steffensen

Nancy L. Steffensen of Marshalltown passed away on Monday, December 20, 2021 at the Iowa River Hospice Home. Per the wishes of Nancy and her family, cremation rites have been accorded. A memorial service will take place on Wednesday, December 22 at 3:00 P.M. at the Mitchell Family Funeral with Chaplain Harlan Nuss officiating. Interment will take place at Hillside Cemetery in State Center. Memorials may be directed in Nancy’s name to Iowa River Hospice. For additional questions or condolences, please visit www.mitchellfh.com or call 641-844-1234. Born Nancy Lee Keys on February 3, 1941 in Oskaloosa, Iowa, she was the daughter of Jack and Ione Keys. After graduating from Oskaloosa High School, she went on to obtain her Bachelor’s Degree at William Penn University. In 1965, she was united in marriage to Gary Steffensen. After raising her two children, Ty and Julie, she worked as a real estate broker for over 30 years, retiring from Coldwell Banker.  She loved her work in real estate and the many people she met over the years. Nancy had a zest for living life to the fullest. She loved to socialize, spending much of her time with friends and family. Nancy also enjoyed shopping, playing tennis and golf, traveling and college sports. Christmas was her favorite holiday and she will be deeply missed as we approach the holiday. More than anything, Nancy loved her family and especially being a grandma. Left to cherish her memory is her husband of 56 years, Gary; her daughter, Julie and her grandchildren: Ty Jr., Tad and Tabitha (Paden). She is preceded in death by her son, Ty and her parents.
