Nancy Jo Thompson, 76, of rural Marshalltown/Green Mountain, died early Saturday morning, May 7, at the Iowa Veterans Home. Her death came peacefully with her loving family at her side. Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Thursday, May 12, at the Iowa River Church of the Brethren with Rev. David Lewis officiating. Visitation will be held from 5-7:00 p.m. on Wednesday at the Mitchell Family Funeral Home in Marshalltown. Memorials may be made in her memory to the Iowa River Church of the Brethren. Born Nancy Jo Dudley on May 11, 1934, in Gowrie, Iowa, she was the daughter of Harlan and Verle (Graham) Dudley. She graduated from the Gowrie High School and then from TheDeaconess School of Nursing in Marshalltown. On June 28, 1954, she was united in marriage to John Dee Thompson in Gowrie. They resided their married life in rural Marshalltown in the Iowa River neighborhood. She was an active member of the Iowa River Church of the Brethren and the ladies aid of the church. Nancy enjoyed reading, ceramics, going out to eat, church activities, and spending time with family and friends. Left to cherish her memory are John, her loving husband of 56 years, her children: John Thompson of Marshalltown, Mark (Ann) Thompson of Conrad, Kaye Gillilandof South Dakota, Jim (Cindy) Thompsonof Indiana and Melinda (Todd) Mullins of Garwin; her dear grandchildren- Candi, Megan, Sheri, Joey, Logan, Tyler, Caitlin, Jonathan, Brandy, Amanda, Ashley, Brittany, Andy and Carrie as well as her great-grandchildren- Alex, Elizabeth, Oscar, Alicia, NIsaiah, Nevaeh, Linden, Drew, Noah, Drayke, Berkley, Olivia, Nicholas, Mason and MacKenna. Also surviving are her siblings- Maxine, Marlene, Loren, Jim, Mike, Sandy and Pat, her step mom, Thelma Dudleyas well as many nieces, nephews and friends. In death, she rejoined her parents, brothers David and Sam and infant daughter Michelle.
