Nancy Wilson

Nancy Lee Wilson, age 75, died peacefully and surrounded by loved ones on May 17, 2022 at State Center Specialty Care. Family and friends are invited to attend her visitation on Monday, May 23 from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. at the Mitchell Family Funeral Home in Marshalltown. Nancy Lee Davis was born on September 19, 1946 to Darrell “Don” Davis and Dorothy (Thibadeau) Davis in Cedar Rapids, Iowa. She was the oldest of five siblings. Nancy spent her childhood in Gilman and graduated from Gilman High School in 1964. After graduation, Nancy attended nursing school at Marshalltown Community College where she received her LPN. She later worked as a nurse at the Veterans Home in Marshalltown, Iowa. In 1975, Nancy married Ronald Wilson on July 5. During their marriage, they had two children- Sara (Troy) Tuttle of Marshalltown, IA and Curtis Wilson of Marshalltown, IA. Nancy and Ronald later divorced in 1991. Nancy lived a full life and found joy in working at Cecil’s Cafe and OJs Diner, both in Marshalltown. She loved her customers very much, and always had special chocolate chips pancakes made whenever her grandchildren came in to visit. She loved to read, especially if it included Steven King or horror. She had many cats throughout her life and she had a special place in her heart for each of them. Lovingly known as “Grouchy Grandma,” she always looked forward to sleepovers with her grandchildren, doing cross word puzzles, spending time with her family and visits at the nursing home from her grandpup Bosco. Left to cherish her memory are Dorothy, her loving mother; her children- Sara (Troy) Tuttle of Marshalltown, IA and Curtis Wilson of Marshalltown, IA; her siblings- Sally (Dale) Gallentine of Gilman, IA, Mike (Alice) Davis of Saginaw, MI, and Marsha (Ray) Haney, of Ankeny; her precious grandchildren- Cloey Elizabeth Tuttle, Callie Jane Tuttle, Chase Adam Wilson, Tyler Ross Wilson, and Nolan Ryan Wilson; as well as many nieces, nephews, and cousins. In death, she rejoined her father Darrell “Don” and her brother Jeff. - Lovingly written by the family
