Naomi Wink Winkelman 88, of Marshalltown passed away on Friday, December 28, 2012 at Villa Del Sol Nursing and Rehab Center.Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m., Wednesday, January 2, 2012 at Trinity Lutheran Church in Marshalltown, Iowa. Visitation will be from 1:00 to 3:00 p.m. on Tuesday, January 1, at the Mitchell Family Funeral Home in Marshalltown. Memorials may be directed to the Marshalltown Senior Citizen Center. Phone 641-844-1234.Naomi Margret Detrick was born on August 4, 1924 in Marshalltown, Iowa; she was the daughter of Frank and Gretchen (Thomas) Detrick. She attended school in the Marshalltown Community School District graduating with the class of 1942. She then attended Deaconess Evangelical School of Nursing in Marshalltown, Iowa, graduating with the class of 1945. On March 11, 1944, Naomi was united in marriage to LaVern Winkelman at Great Lakes Naval Station in Illinois. Naomi worked in the Nursing field, retiring from Fishers Controls after 30 plus years of employment.She was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church, American Business Womens Association, Marshalltown Senior Citizens Center. She trained many people in CPR through the Red Cross. Naomi loved to bowl, any kind of card game, cribbage, enjoyed tying quilts for the Senior Center, and fishing. Her greatest love and priority were her children, grandchildren and her great-grandchildren.Left to cherish her memory are her daughters: Claudia Jones of Marshalltownand Yvonne (James) Beam of Waverly, Iowa; her grandchildren: Kendra (Tim Adams) ONeal of Iowa City, Scott (Kris) Jones of Eldora, Iowa, Trent (Robin) Jones of Belmond, Iowa, Andrea (Eric) Matthias of Castle Rock Colorado, and Nate (Heather) Beam of Denver, Iowa and 17 great-grandchildren.In death Naomi will rejoin her parents, Frank and Gretchen, her husband, LaVern, her brothers, Frank and Clyde Detrick.
