Nathan John Peterson

Nathan John Peterson, 29, of Marshalltown, Iowa, passed away suddenly on Monday, May 20, 2024.

Per the wishes of Nathan and his family, cremation rites have been accorded. A visitation will take place Saturday, June 1 from 2:30 to 4:00 P.M. at Mitchell Family Funeral Home, followed by a memorial service at 4:00 P.M. with Pastor Bob Kosbau officiating. Nathan was born September 3, 1994 in Marshalltown, Iowa to parents John and Michelle (Stover) Peterson. He graduated from the Cedar Rapids Community School District in 2012 and made several connections over the years through Tanager Place and REM. Nathan had a wide range of musical taste, listening to everything from EDM and classic rock to most recently, 90's country. He loved animals and had a soft spot for the Marshalltown Animal Rescue league, with his family adopting many pets over the years. He was fascinated with wolves, studying and researching information about them. He also enjoyed watching the "bird-feeder cam" and scaring away the squirrel that wasn't supposed to be there. Nathan followed several storm-chasers online and had a passion for weather, with an ability to predict storms as well as any meteorologist. He had a great sense of humor, giving many people joy over the years with laughter. He also loved being outdoors- sitting on the porch, grilling with his dad or planting flowers in the springtime.

Left to cherish his memory are his beloved parents, John and Michelle; his sister Allison Peterson of West Des Moines; his brothers Eric and Ehryn Peterson of Grand Rapids, MN and Matt Peterson of Minneapolis, MN; maternal grandparents Laurence and LaVonne Stover of Plymouth, MI; numerous aunts, uncles and cousins.

Nathan is preceded in death by his paternal grandparents Lawrence and Mary Peterson, his uncles Craig Riendeau and the self-proclaimed "good uncle," Kevin Stover.
