Neil Duane Strand

Neil D. Strand, 77, of Marshalltown, Iowa, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, November 2, 2022 at Eldora Specialty Care under the care of Care Initiatives Hospice.

Per the wishes of Neil and his family, cremation rites have been accorded. A family-led celebration of life will take place at a later date. Neil Duane Strand was born November 25, 1944 in Marshalltown, Iowa to parents Glen and Olive (Keese) Strand. After graduating from Marshalltown High School, he served his country honorably in The United States Army. He was united in marriage to Jeaneene (Cecak) Dowell and they were blessed with two children. They later divorced.

Hardworking and dedicated, Neil worked several jobs over the years, including snow removal and grounds-keeping at the Marshalltown Airport and the parks department, as well as paving roads at Dennis Asphalt & Paving. In his free time, he enjoyed woodworking, flying airplanes and flying kites. Neil loved to travel and always loved to go wherever the road would take him.

Left to cherish his memory are his two children: Michael (Danene) Strand of Layton, UT and Teri Strand Nott of Toledo, IA; grandchildren: Alex (Mady) Strand of Clinton, UT, Sarah (Austin) Sackett of Layton, UT, Meghan Strand of Layton, UT, Jesse Nott of Hampton, MN, Max Strand of Grinnell, IA and Andrea Nott of Cedar Rapids, IA; great-grandchildren: Nathan, Jordan and Carson Sackett; his siblings: Sharon (Earl) Lewis of Urbandale, IA and Kurt (Renee) Strand of Grinnell, IA; sister-in-law, Sue Strand of San Jose, CA and several nieces and nephews.

In eternal life, he is reunited with his parents, Glen and Olive and his brother, Tim Strand.
