Nevin Leavy

Nevin Joseph Leavy, age 23, of Marshalltown, passed away on Thursday, September 24, 2020.  A memorial service for Nevin will take place on Friday, October 2 at 3:00 P.M. at the Mitchell Family Funeral Home.  A visitation will be held one hour prior beginning at 2:00 P.M. View the memorial service live stream: https://www.facebook.com/Mitchell-Family-Funeral-Home-99280714047/ Born Nevin Joseph Leavy on June 15, 1997 in Iowa City, he was the son of Richard Leavy and Angela (Peterson) Rogalski.  He lived in Loves Park, IL for a time, but resided in Marshalltown most of his life. Nevin previously worked at Lennox and was a skilled carpenter. He was a member of the Parkour Club in Cedar Rapids. Nevin was a soulful person who enjoyed meditating and believed in all the good in the world. He had a huge heart and never met a stranger – he literally gave someone the “coat off his back” when he saw them without one.  Nevin enjoyed being in nature, whether he was taking long walks, planting things, star-gazing or taking pictures.  He liked all things fast and on wheels, especially skateboarding. Nevin always wanted to see the world.  He was able to combine his love of travel and his Irish heritage when he visited Ireland.  He was incredibly intelligent and a talented artist and video editor.  Nevin loved kids and made it a priority to be a good role model to his little brother, Junior. He is survived by his parents: Angela (Martin) Rogalski and Richard (Shannon) Leavy; his siblings: Rory Leavy, Haley Leavy (Donovan), Cody Peterson, Martin “Junior” Rogalski Jr., Morgan Duff (Jacob) and Taylor Duff; nieces and nephews: Natalie, Khloe, Kaison, Mario, Kohen, River, Bailey, Lucas and Leah; several aunts, uncles and cousins; and many close friends. Nevin is preceded in death by his grandparents: John and Barb Peterson and Tom and Kathleen Leavy.
