Nick Holmes

Nicholas Holmes, 72 passed away under the care of Mobile Infirmary Medical Center on April 8th, 2022. Nicholas Alexander Holmes was born on August 30, 1949 in Des Moines to John B. Holmes and Mary Lou (Vulcano) Holmes. Nicholas graduated from Dowling High School in 1967 and attended Grand View College receiving his AA degree and later attended Drake University where he played hockey. Nick was a long time member of the Snow Journee’s Ski Club. Nick was an avid lover of cars, it seemed he got a new car every year. In the early 80’s Nick started up his own business called Holmes Employment Services in Des Moines. Later he ended up moving to Dallas as a financial consultant, which he retired from. In his later years, he settled in Mobile, Alabama. He enjoyed golfing, watching baseball and loved his dogs. Most importantly, Nicholas cherished his family. He is survived by his children: Nicholas (Colette) Holmes and Tanya (Darin) Bedgrade-Holmes; grandchildren Bailee (Joseph) Ravenhorst and Harper Holmes; his brother Tim (Marian) Holmes. Nicholas is preceded in death by his parents John B and Mary Lou Holmes; his brother John and his wife Jodi Holmes. A combined memorial Mass for Nick and his mother, Mary Lou will take place on Wednesday, April 27 at 10:30 a.m. at St. Theresa Catholic Church in Des Moines.
