Nora Ruch

Nora Ruch, 96, of Marshalltown, died Wednesday, January 7, 2009, at Villa del Sol while in the care of her family and Iowa River Hospice.Funeral services will be at 1:30 p.m. Friday, January 9, 2009, at Mitchell Family Funeral Home with Pastor Bobby Shomo officiating. Burial will be in the Rose Hill Memorial Gardens. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the funeral service at the funeral home. Memorials may be directed to Iowa River Hospice. Ph 641-844-1234.Nora Lulu James was born on July 2, 1912, in Monroe City, Missouri. She was the daughter of George Albert and Lena (Bown) James. She was educated in the area of her birth. Growing up, Nora helped her mother taking care of the family home and also helped her father in the blacksmith shop. On September 23, 1933, Nora married William K. Ruch in Hannibal, Missouri. Nora enjoyed gardening, particularly African violets. She also enjoyed canning, cooking, and her beloved dog, Ginger. Nora passionately loved and cared for her family.She is survived by her children, DeloresDee Roberts of Marshalltown, and Kenneth(Lila) Ruch of Indianola; her grandchildren, Karla(Doug) Halverson of Coon Rapids, Rick(Carey) Roberts of Tracy, and Davin Roberts of West Des Moines; her great-grandchildren, Derrik Bingham, Jerod Bingham, Terin Bingham, Vincent Steward, Logun Roberts, and Noel Roberts; and her sister, Ruth Secrist, of Houston, Texas.In death, she has rejoined her husband, William, who died in 1984; her two brothers; her five sisters; and her grandson, Allen Ruch, who died in 1974.
