Norlin Rober, 91, of Marshalltown, passed away Monday, July 11, 2022 at UnityPoint Health – Marshalltown. Services will take place on Saturday, July 23 at 10:00 a.m. at Elim Lutheran Church in Marshalltown with Pastor Paul Waterman officiating. He will be laid to rest at Riverside Cemetery. Friends and family are also invited to attend a visitation on Friday, July 22 from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at the Mitchell Family Funeral Home. Born June 12, 1931 in Waukon, Iowa, he was the son of Erwin and Lulu (Fruechte) Rober. Norlin attended a one-room rural school through 8th grade before attending Waukon High School and graduating in 1948. He taught in one-room rural schools in Allamakee County from 1948-1950. After his graduation from Luther College in 1954, he taught high school mathematics and science in Ridgeway, Iowa and Mabel, Minnesota. Norlin returned to school to obtain his Master’s Degree, graduating from the University of Northern Iowa in 1958. He returned to Luther College to teach math and pre-engineering from 1960-1965. He married the love of his life, Audrey Wogen on September 01, 1961 in Decorah, Iowa. The two relocated to Marshalltown, Iowa in 1965, where he taught mathematics at Marshalltown Community College from 1965 until his retirement in 1992. They were blessed with two children, Paul and Aline. Norlin was a faithful member of Elim Lutheran Church. He had much interest in a variety of hobbies over the years, including electronics, recorded classical music, photography, antique clock restoration and collecting, computing and genealogy. Left to cherish his memory is his beloved wife and two children: Paul Rober of Marshalltown and Aline Rober of MA, as well as his nieces and nephews. In eternal life, he is reunited with his parents and his brother, Ronald Rober.
