Norma Kay Gaydos, 58, of Grandview Heights Nursing Facility in Marshalltown, Iowa passed away Friday, July 1, 2011 at 9:45 p.m. at Grandview after an extended illness.Mass of Christian burial will be on Tuesday, July 5, 2011 at 10:30 a.m. at St Henrys Catholic Church in Marshalltown, Iowa with Father Don Czapla officiating. Visitation will be held one hour prior to service. Burial will follow in St Patricks Cemetery in Tama, Iowa. Memorials may be directed to the family. Mitchell Family funeral Home is caring for Norma and her family.Norma was born in Manhattan, Kansas on July 26, 1952 to the late Anthony Bernard and Norma Rae (Drumm) Gaydos. Kay was a gold medalist in the Special Olympics in the girls standing long jump. She was a member of St Henrys Catholic Church in Marshalltown, Iowa.Norma is survived by a sister: Annette (Jeff) Lanning of Melbourne, Iowa, three brothers; Anthony(Lorie) Gaydos of Vanceburg , Kentucky, Francis (Bambi) Gaydos of McCalla, Alabama and Michael J. Gaydos of Vanceburg, Kentucky, four nieces; Megan Rae Lanning of Melbourne, Iowa, Amanda (Greg)Clark of Vanceburg , Kentucky, Ashley Herink of McCalla , Alabama and Madison Gaydos of McCalla, Alabama. six nephews; Drew Gaydos of Vanceburg, Kentucky, Derek and Kyle Gaydos both of Toledo, Iowa Nicholas Lanning of Melbourne, Iowa, Taylor Gaydos of McCalla ,Alabama and Austin McClenathan of Blue Eye , Missouri and a great- nephew Tyde Herink of McCalla, Alabama.
