Norma Jean Schoppe

Norma Jean Schoppe, 75 of Marshalltown, Iowa passed away on Sunday, September 29, 2013 at home under the care of the Iowa River Hospice Home. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Friday October 4, 2013, at the Mitchell Family Funeral Home in Marshalltown. Visitation will be held on Thursday, October 3, 2013, from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. also at the Mitchell Family Funeral Home in Marshalltown. Norma Jean Hapes was born on September 10, 1938 to Charles and Dorothy Earwicker Hapes at a farm north of the Collins area. She graduated from the Nevada school district in 1957. On August 29, 1959 she was united in marriage to Earl Dan Schoppe in Nevada and moved to Marshalltown in 1960. Norma had been previously employed with Martin Clothing Store, Marshalltown Instruments where she operated the Hyster fork lift loading equipment into trucks and retired in 2003 from Bruins Manufacturing. Norma enjoyed camping, doing crosswords, going to flea markets, watching wild birds and especially cherished the time she got to visit with her grandchildren. Norma is survived by her husband of 54 years, Earl; son: Terry (Lori) Schoppe of Cedar Falls; grandchildren: Michaela and Madison; sisters: Betty Shafer of Michigan and Karen Anderson of Nevada and a brother Charles (Emma) Hapes of Las Vegas. Norma is preceded in death by both of her parents.
