Norma Schwarck, age 89, formerly of Union-Whitten and the Westown Apartments in Marshalltown, passed away peacefully at the Oakview Nursing Home in Conrad on Monday afternoon, October 14, 2019. Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Friday, October 18th, at the New Hope Christian Church with Pastors Kerry Jech and David Fink officiating. She will be laid to rest in the East Lawn Memorial Gardens at Eldora. Visitation will be held from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. on Thursday, October 17th at the Mitchell Family Funeral Home in Marshalltown. Born Norma Lee Newell on August 8, 1930, in Hampton, Iowa, she was the daughter of Maynard and Fern (Thackery) Newell. She was raised in the Sheffield community until 8th grade when the family moved to Eldora. She graduated from the Eldora High School in 1948. Soon after graduation, she was united in marriage to the love of her life, Donald “Don” Schwarck at the Eldora Church of Christ on June 25, 1948. Mrs. Schwarck was an office manager for Marshall Office Supply until retiring in 1996. She treasured her family and friends and always looked forward to getting together for several clubs and groups she belonged to. Some of her memberships included Red Hat Society, ABWA, “Do Nothing Club,” formerly of the Eldora Church of Christ, Union Church of Christ and currently New Hope Christian Church in Marshalltown. Norma enjoyed reading, watching movies, word search puzzles and decorating. Her favorite times were hosting friends and family for meals and celebrations. She was always on the go, with a smile on her face and the love of God in her heart. Left to cherish her memory are her children: Dee McCoy, Phil (Maggie) Schwarck, Lee Jackson (Terry Monroe) and Lynn Schwarck; 25 grandchildren; 29 great-grandchildren (and one more on the way); her sister Joan Schwarck; special cousin Elva Weaver and many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. In death, she rejoined her beloved Donald who passed away in October of 2009; sons, Steve and Lonn Schwarck; grandson, Jake Schwarck and sister, Virginia Rae Newell.
