Norma J. Willems

Norma J. Willems, 61, of Marshalltown, entered into eternal life on Tuesday, August 28th, 2007, at the Marshalltown Medical and Surgical Center while under the care of the Iowa River Hospice.Funeral services celebrating her life will be held 10:30 a.m. Saturday, September 1st, at the Redeemer Lutheran Church with Pastor Daniel Johnson officiating. Ph 844-1234.Born Norma Jean Lichtenberg on December 1st, 1945, near Alta, Iowa, she was the daughter of Arthur and Mamie (Grieme) Lichtenberg. She attended Hanover Lutheran Parochial School and graduated from Alta High School in 1963. She lived and worked in Des Moines where she met Jerrell Willems. On My 7th, 1966, they were married at St. Johns Lutheran Church in rural Alta. They made their home in the Marshalltown area. She was employed as an administrative assistant to the Marshall County Board of Supervisors for 24 years, retiring on July 2, 2007. Mrs. Willems was a member of the Redeemer Lutheran Church where she was an active member of the Lutheran Womens Missionary League and other church committees. She was also a member of the Red Hat Society and several card clubs. Norma enjoyed her grandchildren, attending their sporting events, her cats and her flowers. Surviving are her loving husband of more than 41 years, Jerry, her two children: Dawn (Scott) Arbogast of Tracy, California, and Rachel (Chris) Onsrud of West Des Moines, Iowa and three grandchildren: Benjamin, Samuel and Claire Onsrud all of West Des Moines. She was preceded in death by her parents and an infant brother.
