Norman “Norm” Jay Cook, 80, of Apache Junction, Arizona, and Perrault Falls, Ontario, formerly of Marshalltown, Iowa, passed away March 18, 2026.
A celebration of life will be held at a later date. For questions or condolences, please visit www.mitchellfh.com or call 641-844-1234. Mitchell Family Funeral Home is caring for Norman and his family.
Norm was born November 21, 1945, in Eldora, Iowa, to Otis and Frances (Norman) Cook. He attended Marshalltown High School and worked 21 years for the Chicago & NorthWestern Railroad. On February 21, 1969, he married Susan Brennick, beginning a 57-year partnership.
Together, they moved to Northwest Ontario, where they built and operated Rocky Shore Lodge on Perrault Lake, turning a bold idea into a successful fishing resort. In retirement, they split their time between Arizona winters and Ontario summers.
Norm was a true builder who could fix or create just about anything and was always willing to help others. He loved classic cars, especially his restored 1938 Ford Coupe, and was known for his early mornings.
He is survived by his wife, Sue; sons Chad (Brenda), Jeff (Shauna), and Josh (Brooke); nine grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and brother Gary (Sandi). He was preceded in death by his parents, sister Jerri Bush Winger, nephew Ross Bush, and grandson Matthew Cook.
