Norman Waterman

March 19, 1937 — January 12, 2025

Norman A. Waterman, age 87, of Marshalltown, Iowa passed away on January 12, 2025, at the Iowa River Hospice Home.


Per Norman and his family, cremation rites will be accorded. A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, February 1, 2025, at 10:00 A.M. at the Mitchell Family Funeral Home of Marshalltown. Norman August Waterman was born March 19, 1937, in Melbourne, Iowa. He was the son of Ivan and Annetta (Bosma) Waterman. Norman attended Melbourne High School and graduated with the class of 1956.


On May 7, 1961, he married the love of his life, Violet Elaine (Pugh) Waterman at the Bethany Reformed Church in Baxter, IA. Together they made their home in Baxter IA., and during his younger years he farmed at the family farm in Melbourne, IA. Later on, Norman continued his working career at the Baxter and Melbourne Elevators and the Modern Tractor Company. Eventually retiring from the Marshall County Road Maintenance Department.


Norman was a faithful member of the First Baptist Church (now Journey Church) in Marshalltown. In his free time, he enjoyed taking trips to Branson, MO., visiting all the entertainment shows along the way. Norman was very much interested in classic cars, his personal health via Naturopathy, religious studies and farm equipment.


He is survived by his children: Ivan (Tina) Waterman of Phoenix, AZ., Jill (Chris) Brockman of Marshalltown, IA., and Kris (Karen) Waterman of Columbus, OH.; his grandchildren: Samantha Waterman, Holly Waterman, Brittney (Zach) Wynne, Kelsey (Jay) Reisetter, Bailey (Miranda) Brockman, Sydney Waterman, and Noah Waterman; his great grandchildren: Bo Brockman, Brooks Brockman, Jaxon Kerwien, Millie Reisetter, and Delany Reisetter; his brother, Vernon (Margaret) Waterman of Melbourne, IA.; his sister, Arlene Conner of Sandy Springs, Georgia; and his sister-in-law, Marilyn (Donovan) Deppe of Newton, Iowa.


Norman is preceded in death by his parents Ivan and Annetta, and his wife Violet Elaine Waterman.
