On Wednesday morning, January 02, 2013, Ollie Gilmore passed on at Grandview Heights in Marshalltown, Iowa, after a lengthy illness. She was born Olive Rynearson on March 4, 1924, in Wells, Minnesota to Theodore and Etta (White) Rynearson. She and her family moved shortly afterward to Winnebago, Minnesota. She came from a family of 7 children.Ollie graduated from the Winnebago Minnesota school district in 1942 and married Warren Gilmore in 1945. Over the years they lived in South Dakota, Minnesota, Wisconsin, and several places in Iowa moving to Marshalltown in 1969. Mr. Gilmore passed on in 1989.After high school graduation, Ollie managed a grocery store in Winnebago before getting married. As they started their life, Ollie was a farm wife and mother for many years. After moving to Decorah, Iowa, she worked at Mabes Pizza for 7 years and at Luther College for 2 years. After moving to Eldora, Ollie worked for the school district for 2 years. Upon moving to Marshalltown, she worked at Maidrite for 1 years while also working at Marshalltown Community College where she continued to work for 20 years retiring in 1989. She worked at the Marshalltown Public Library for 2 years after retirement.Ollie was active in volunteer work through the years as a Girls 4H leader and with the church. She was a life-long member of the First United Methodist Church. Through the years she taught Sunday school, sang in the choir, and was a UMW officer, Wesleyan Circle member, office volunteer and kitchen helper.Ollie was preceded in death by her parents, husband, two brothers, three sisters, step daughter, brothers in law, sisters in law, and stillborn daughter, Rosalyn Leann.She is survived by family members: sister Maybelle King, Mobile, Alabama; daughter Diane Tella, Marshalltown, Iowa; son Jerry (Kathy) Gilmore, Council Bluffs, Iowa; daughter Cinda (Greg) Morey, Marshalltown, Iowa; step son Ronnie (Elaine) Gilmore, Fairmont, Minnesota; grandson Chris Tella, Newton, Iowa; granddaughter Laura (Heath) Vileta, Algona, Iowa; grandson Kurt Morey, Marshalltown, Iowa; great-grand daughter Paige Vileta and great-grandson Zach Vileta, Algona, Iowa; many nieces and nephews and seven step-grandchildren and many friends in the church and community.Memorial services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, January 5, 2013, at the 1st United Methodist Church with Pastor Dale Scritchfield officiating. Private interment rites will be held at a later date. There will be no visitation. A luncheon will follow the services at the church in the lower level. Memorials may be directed to her family.
