Omer Oetker, 73, of 510 W. Ingledue, Marshalltown, died early Thursday morning, October 4th, at the Marshalltown Medical and Surgical Center while in their care, his loving family and the Iowa River Hospice. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at the Church of St. Henry at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, October 10th, with Fr.Don Czapla and Fr. Tom Braak as celebrants. Entombment will follow in the Riverside Cemetery Mausoleum. Friends may call at the Mitchell Family Funeral Home from 5-7:00 p.m. on Tuesday with a 7:00 p.m. vigil service. The Mitchell Family Funeral Home is caring for Omer and his family. Ph 641-844-1234. Born on December 31st, 1933, near Haverhill, Iowa, he was the son of Frank and Frances (Tranel) Oetker. He received his education in the St. Joseph School and later graduated from St. Mary High School in Marshalltown in 1951. Omer was employed for 43 years at Lennox Industries until his retirement in March 1996. Omer was a loving husband, father, grandfather, and great grandfather who enjoyed golfing, the Iowa Hawkeyes, bowling, the Chicago Cubs, traveling and sports. He was a member of St. Henrys parish, the Knights of Columbus and the Catholic Order of Foresters. Left to cherish his memory are his loving wife, Kathy, whom he married on July 16th, 1960, at St. Marys Catholic Church, children: Michael (Denise) Oetker of Lebanon, Indiana, Sheila Oetker of Kansas City, MO., Troy (Ally) Oetker of West Des Moines, grandchildren: Bradly and Amber (Richard) and great-grandson Alex (and one on the way), his sisters Patricia (Pete) Wilkening of State Center and Avelino Lynk of Iowa City and brother Merlin Mick (Patricia) Oetker of Boone, as well as numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and a host of friends. In death he has rejoined his parents, sisters Dorothy Dungy, Monica Rebik and Agnes Oetker and brother Cletus Oetker.
