Pamela Hammer

Pamela Hammer, 79, of Marshalltown passed away on the morning of Saturday, August 31, 2024 at the Iowa River Hospice Home in Marshalltown.

Funeral services for Pam will be held on Friday, September 6th, 2024 at 10:30 a.m. at the Mitchell Family Funeral Home in Marshalltown. Visitation will be on Thursday, September 5th from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. also at the funeral home. Memorials may be directed to the family. Pamela Fields was born on July 27, 1945, in Marshalltown. She was the daughter of Alfred and Opal (Thorpe) Fields. On February 11, 1962, Pam was united in marriage to Ed Hammer Jr. in Marshalltown. Pam had worked for Marshalltown Instruments from 1961 until 1988 as a factory worker and then went to work at Wal-Mart for 30 plus years until retirement. In her earlier years, Pam enjoyed fishing and attending her family little league games. She especially cherished the time spent with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Pam is survived by her children: Michael (Candy) Hammer of Marshalltown and Bob (Cindy) Hammer of Iowa City. Grandchildren: Brady (Heather) Hammer, Nicole Hammer, Angela Hammer, Daniel Hammer and Alyssa Hammer. She is also survived by great-grandchildren: Paxton, Brystol, Elliott, Baby H., and Karleigh.

Pam is preceded in death by her husband, Ed; son: Joseph Hammer and parents: Opal and Alfred Woodrow Fields (Red), and her stepbrother Alfred Eugene Fields (Gene).
