Patricia L. Rash, 82, of Union, died Tuesday, March 30, 2010, at MMSC. Funeral services will be at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, April 3, 2010, at Union Community Church. Private family burial will be in East Lawn Memory Gardens in Eldora. Memorials may be directed to the Iowa 4-H Foundation, Quakerdale in New Providence, or Union Community Church. Phone 641-844-1234. Patricia Louise Fistler was born on September 11, 1927, in rural Whitten. She was the daughter of Lee and Theresa Marie (Spurlin) Fistler. She graduated from Whitten High School and then attended radio school in Omaha and worked at the Federal Reserve Bank in Omaha. On August 11, 1946, Pat married Joseph Rash at the Union Community Church. The couple farmed for three years north of Marshalltown and returned to Pats family farm in rural Union in 1951. They moved into Union in October 2009. Pat was a homemaker, devoted wife, loving mother, and grandmother. She was a past member of the Iowa State University Extension Council, Extension Homemakers and was a 4-H leader for more than 20 years and a member of the Iowa 4-H Hall of Fame, and a Daughter of the American Revolution member. She taught Sunday school for many years, was a life long member of Union Community Church and participated in many church activities. She enjoyed flower and vegetable gardening, genealogy, photography and exhibiting at the Hardin County Fair. Pat is survived by her husband of more than 63 years, Joe of Union; her three children Jerry (Carol) Rash of rural Union, Nancy (Lyle Moen) of Washington, IA, and Peggy (Dr. Larry) Daniels of Eldora; her four grandchildren John (Tammy) Rash of rural Union, Rachel (Danny) Ritchhart of Norwalk, Ben Daniels of Brookings, SD, and Laura Jo Daniels of Ames, IA; her great-grandchildren Macie, Anistyn, and Jeremy of rural Union; her sister Mary (John) Dinnes of Eldora, and her step-sister Gwen Norman of Clemons. In death she has rejoined her parents, her sister Virginia Martin, and her son Bennett Lynn Rash who died in 1969.
