Patricia Van Gorp

Patricia Jane Van Gorp, 83, of Marshalltown, passed away on Thursday, December 24, 2020 at Genesis Health System in Davenport. Cremation rites have been accorded. Mitchell Family Funeral Home is caring for Pat and her family. Patricia Smith was born on June 4, 1937 in Britt, Iowa to Milton and Fern Charbonneaux Smith. Pat graduated from Britt High School in 1955 and went on to receive her LPN in 1957 from the Evangelical School of Nursing in Marshalltown. Pat was united in marriage to Morris Lammert and they later divorced. She then married Virgil Van Gorp on September 21, 1986. Virgil passed away earlier this year on June 30th. Pat was retired as a nurse from Villa Del Sol nursing home in Marshalltown. She had also worked for Alley Silk Screen in Marshalltown from 1984 until 1986. Pat enjoyed sewing, embroidering, camping all over the United States, going to her coffee club with friends, baking (angel food cake, dutch letters), riding motorcycles with Virgil and spending time with her friends and family. Patricia is survived by her children: Pam Reed of Le Grand, Sheri (Gary) Edwards of Marshalltown, Patti (Michael Weuve) Jay of Marshalltown, Janet (Ron) Parks of Cottrellville, Michigan, Rob (Linda) Van Gorp of Oklahoma and Scott Van Gorp of Laos. Pat is also survived by numerous grandchildren, great grandchildren, and siblings: Barb Bierman, Nancy Michel, Judy Sonius, Jean Perkins, David Smith and Sue Obrecht as well as many great friends. Patricia is preceded in death by her husband, Virgil; daughter, Debi Lammert; son, Jimmy Lammert; parents, Milton and Fern and her brother, Billy Smith.
