Patricia Lou WaltersMarch 21, 1931 - June 15, 2012Patricia (Pat) Lou Walters, age 81, of Marshalltown, Iowa passed away on June 15, 2012, surrounded by her loving family at Iowa River Hospice House in Marshalltown. Visitation for Pat will be held Monday, June 18, 2012, from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m., at the Mitchell Family Funeral Home, 1209 Iowa Avenue, in Marshalltown where the family will be present. Funeral services and a celebration of life will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Tuesday, June 19, 2012, at Our Savior Lutheran Church, 3001 S. 6th Street, Marshalltown, IA. Entombment will follow at Riverside Cemetery.Pat was born March 21, 1931, in Oskaloosa, Iowa, to Delpha (Shaw) and Earl J. Minner. She moved to Marshalltown with her family in 1941. She graduated from Marshalltown High School in1949. On November 25, 1949, she was united in marriage to Bill Walters. They lived in Waterloo for fifteen years where their two children were born. The family moved to Des Moines, Iowa in 1964 and to Marshalltown, Iowa in 1967. They had a winter home in Tucson, AZ for eight years.She was very active in PTA serving in several capacities, including President. She was a member of Our Savior Lutheran Church, TTT, Chapter DA, Theta Chi Sorority, Souvenir Club, Elmwood Country Club, Twentieth Century Club, and several bridge groups. She especially enjoyed spending time with her family, playing bridge, golfing, knitting, genealogy and reading. Pat was employed in secretarial and accounting positions. She was employed for 22 years at Matt Furniture in Marshalltown as a bookkeeper, office manager, and decorator until she retired. Pat continued her education at Marshalltown Community College.She is survived by her loving husband of 62 years, Bill Walters: son, Craig A. Walters (Leigh) of Ankeny, IA, and daughter, Michelle A Haugle of Spring, Texas, and grandsons Matthew E. Walters, Benjamin T. Haugle, and two step grandsons, Jed Schmidt (Kimberly) and Ryan Haugle, great grandchildren Emma, Ava, and Brody Schmidt and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents and her beloved brother, Kenneth in 1970.The family wishes to give special thanks St. Lukes Hospital in Cedar Rapids, Iowa and Iowa River Hospice in Marshalltown. Memorial contributions may be directed in her name to Our Savior Lutheran Church and Iowa River Hospice.
