Patricia Zhorne

Patricia Zhorne, 81, of Marshalltown, IA passed away on February 26th after a long battle with cancer. Patricia was born on March 15th, 1940 to Paul and Dorothy Schepple Flaucher in Oelwein, IA. After graduating Oelwein High School, she moved to Cedar Rapids where she met Donald Zhorne and eventually married in 1961 having the couple recently celebrated 60 years of marriage. Prior to living in Marshalltown for the last 40 years, Patricia lived in Cedar Rapids, Jefferson and Perry, Iowa where she served on the Jefferson Park & Recreation Board, member of Sweet Adelines, recipient of ABWA Woman of the year award, member of the Red Hat Society, member of the Marshall County Retired School Personnel Association, Faith Circle, Volunteered at Bickford Cottage and most recently at the Wonderful Wednesday program at Hope United Methodist Church where she worked with school age children. After retiring from Iowa Valley Community College District in Marshalltown, IA, Pat spent time with her family, gathering with friends, traveling, working in the garden, tending to her flowers and cooking/baking every chance she could. There wasn’t a recipe she wouldn’t try. Patricia was predeceased by her parents, Paul and Dorothy and her twin sister Connie. Survived by her husband Donald Zhorne, son, Matthew Zhorne, wife Amanda of Cedar Rapids, IA and Daughter, Dana Keller husband Loran of Corvallis, MT. Grandsons Gage Zhorne and Chauncy Zhorne of Cedar Rapids, IA, Nathan Keller of Corvallis, MT and Granddaughter Kaitlyn Keller of Corvallis, MT. Services for Patricia will be held at Hope United Methodist Church on March 3rd at 11:00 am with an opportunity to visit with the family following the service.
