Patrick Alan Harrington

Patrick Alan Harrington passed away on October 10, 2018. Funeral services will be held on October 20, 2018 at the Mitchell Family Funeral Home at 11:00 a.m. with a public visitation held one hour prior to the services. Mitchell Family Funeral Home is caring for Pat and his family.   Patrick was born on March 27, 1976 in Marshalltown, Iowa; he was the son of Gary and Deanna “Sue” (Nordstrom) Harrington. He attended Marshalltown Community College after graduating from Marshalltown High School. Pat was a free spirit that showed in every aspect of his life; from his time living off the land in Colorado, to his long motorcycle rides. He was capable of fishing for his dinner and making his own fire from small sticks that he had found in the woods. On one such occasion, in the Colorado wilderness, Pat and Gary spent part of the day following a bear just to get the best photo. In Pat’s free time he was an avid woodworker, making one of a kind works of art. That craftiness carried over to all walks of his life. It was known that every time he went fishing with his brother he would eventually have to mend the boat while on the water before it sank beneath him. Pat was fearless when it came to life and he leaves behind that spirit to be remembered by his family and friends. Left to mourn Pat’s loss are his father Gary, siblings Jeffrey Harrington of Ames, Iowa, and Mary Jane Harrington-Bethel of Marshalltown, Iowa; his nieces: Gracelyn Sue Bethel and Elizabeth Jane Bethel. As well as his girlfriend Tasha. Pat is preceded in death by his Mother Deanna “Sue”.
