Patrick Shipley

Patrick Shipley, 48, of State Center, Iowa, passed away on Wednesday, February 20, 2013, at Mary Greeley Medical and Surgical Center in Ames, Iowa.A memorial service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, March 2, 2013, at the Mitchell Family Funeral Home in Marshalltown. Visitation will be held from 9:00 to 11:00a.m. prior to the service. In lieu of flowers memorials may be directed to the family to be designated at a later date for a fitting tribute to Pat. Phone 641-844-1234.Patrick Mark Shipley was born February 29, 1964 at Marshalltown Medical and Surgical Center; he was the son of Darrel and Rosie (Van Law) Shipley. There was a running joke with Pat about having a leap year birthday and this year he would have been 12 1/4 years old! Pat attended school in the West Marshall School District graduating with the class of 1982 and then to Iowa State University. Pat has always loved racing and cars. During his high school and young adult life, Pat was involved in several truck pulling competitions. He had a love for golf, the Speed Channel, NASCAR racing, football and fishing at Holiday Lake where he had a cabin and pontoon boat and spent time with his partner, Regina Sundine. Pat had worked at Shipley Truck Parts (STP) in State Center and for the last 10 years worked at Ruan Truck Sales in Des Moines, Iowa.On August of 1986, Pat married Carrie (Dunn) Meyer and to this union were two children, Aaron and Jordan Shipley. In 1996, Pat later married Myra Schlesky and to this union, Jillian Shipley was born.In January, Pat became a first time grandpa to twin girls and he was so happy and proud of his new girls!! Pat is survived by his son, Aaron (Amber) Shipley and twin granddaughters: Addisyn Faith and Aubrey Grace; his daughters: Jordan Shipley and Jillian Shipley; his parents, Darrel (Puff) Shipley and Rosie Harris, his brother, Wayne (Kim) Shipley and sister, Amy Shipley and nephews, Mitchell, Stephen, and Nicholas Paxton, along with many other friends and family.In death Pat rejoins his grandparents Cloe and Sophie Shipley.
