Patty Martin

Patty Martin, age 64, of Marshalltown passed away peacefully on the morning of March 17, 2025 at Harmony of Marshalltown.

Funeral Services for Patty will be held on Thursday, March 20, 2025 beginning at 10:30 A.M. at the Mitchell Family Funeral Home in Marshalltown. She will be laid to rest at Riverside Cemetery following services. A visitation for family and friends will be held on Wednesday, March 19, 2025 from 5:00 to 7:00 P.M. at the Mitchell Family Funeral Home. Patty Ann Lakey was born September 2, 1960 in Marshalltown, Iowa. She was the middle of three children born to Lawrence and Wilma (Stanley) Lakey.

On September 9, 1977, she was united in marriage to the love of her life, Michael Martin at the Little Brown Church in Nashua, Iowa. Together they had three children, Dwight, Lindsey and Scott. Patty worked for K-Mart in Marshalltown as a retail associate for 20 years until the time that they had closed. She then went to work for the Marshalltown Community School District in the cafeteria for 18 years before her retirement. Michael passed away in 2012. In her free time, Patty enjoyed the thrill of the bargain shopping going to many garage sales and thrift stores over the years. She was an avid watcher of the Game Show Network, NASCAR and wrestling when it was in season. Over everything she enjoyed being a grandma and loved to spend time with her grandkids and the rest of her family. There are many memories of Patty spending time each holiday to make sure that the home was always put together and decorated to the best of her ability.

Patty is survived by her children, Dwight (Sherry) Martin and Lindsey (Austin Reed) Martin; her grandchildren, Andrew Richeson, Addison Reed and Makalah Reed; her siblings, Roger (Debra) Lakey and Pennie (Doug) Borton; alongside numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.

She is preceded in death by her husband, Michael; her son in infancy, Scott Martin; parents, Lawrence and Wilma Lakey; and nephew Ryan Hood.
