Paul L. Boots Moody, 85, of Marshalltown, died Friday, September 17, 2010, at the Marshalltown Medical & Surgical Center. Services for Boots will be held at 1:30 PM, Thursday, September 23, at the Mitchell Family Funeral Home. Visitation will be held from 5:00 PM 8:00 PM, Wednesday, September 22, at the Mitchell Family Funeral Home where his family will be present to greet friends. For further information or to send a condolence please visit www.mitchellfh.com Boots was born May 14, 1925, in McCallsburg, Iowa, the son of Eugene and Julia Maude (Hartness) Moody. He was raised and educated in the McCallsburg and Huxley, Iowa areas on several farming communities. Boots received his education in the Story and Marshall County areas before honorably serving his country as a member of the United States Navy. While serving his country in the Navy, Boots was aboard many carriers in the Pacific. Boots was united in marriage to Jean Elliott and to this union a son Robert was born. Boots and Jean later divorced. Boots was married to Wanda Jean Schulz in September of 1953 in Gate City, Virginia. Following their marriage they made their home in Marshalltown and then moved to California where he continued his career in trucking. Boots and Wanda moved back to Marshalltown in 1990 where he spent time with friends and family during his retirement. Boots enjoyed spending time at the casino. Boots was a retired member of the local Teamsters organization and the American Legion Frank-Lewis-Glick Post #46. Boots is survived by his son Robert (Gloria) Pfantz of State Center, Iowa, his sister Dorothy Buchan of Marshalltown, his grandchildren: LaRonda Pfantz, Jason (Sara) Pfantz, Monica Pfantz, Shelly (Dustin) Umbaugh and Darcy Long, as well as several great-grandchildren. Boots was preceded in death by his parents Eugene and Julia, his wife Wanda in March of 2006, his brothers Lee and Hanes in their infancy, his brothers; Bill, Monroe, Harlan and Ralph, his sisters; Nellie Klar and May Bloomfield.
