Paul Schaper

Paul I. Schaper, 79, of Marshalltown, Iowa passed away on January 25, 2017 at the Iowa River Hospice Home in Marshalltown, Iowa. Funeral Services will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Tuesday, January 31, 2017 at Redeemer Lutheran Church in Marshalltown, Iowa. Visitation will be from 5:00 7:00 p.m. on Monday January 30, 2017 at Mitchell Family Funeral Home in Marshalltown, Iowa. Memorials may be directed to the family to be designated at a later date. Schaper was born on February 2, 1937 in Fort Dodge, Iowa. He was the son of Eugene and Bessie (Leetch) Schaper. Paul attended Green Mountain High School and graduated with the Class of 1955. Paul was united in marriage to Linda Faulkner on July 28, 1967 at the Redeemer Lutheran Church in Marshalltown, Iowa. For 19 years Paul was on the WHO Tractor Ride. Paul was the superintendent for the Marshall County Highway Department retiring in 2003, worked for the Marshalltown and Boone Raceways as a line up man. Also flagged for the go kart track for 20 years in Marshalltown. He also farmed in his spare time. Left to cherish his memory is his wife of 49 years, Linda Schaper of Marshalltown, Iowa; son, Shane Schaper of Marshalltown, Iowa; grandchildren, Brent Schaper, Hunter Schaper and Becca Vajgrt all of Marshalltown, Iowa; great-grandchildren, Carley Schaper and Dixie Schaper of Marshalltown, Iowa and sister Rachel (John) Hardman of Charles City, Iowa. In death Paul rejoins his parents, Eugene and Bessie and son, John Schaper.
