Paul G. Snyder

Paul G. Snyder, age 86 of Marshalltown, passed away on Friday, June 6, 2025 at Westbrook Acres in Gladbrook.

Paul Gordon Snyder was born on June 24, 1938 in Marshalltown, the son of Earl and Margaret (Baer) Snyder. He graduated from Marshalltown High School then enlisted in the United States Army.

On September 5, 1959, Paul was united in marriage with Kay Ann Thornton at The Little Brown Church in Nashua, IA. Paul worked for Fisher Controls for nearly 20 years and worked carpentry jobs on the side with his son, Ron. Due to health reasons, Paul retired in 1993.

In his earlier years, Paul enjoyed being active outdoors. Paul and Kay enjoyed woodworking together, specifically making bird houses.

Paul was preceded in death by his parents, Earl and Margaret; his wife of 61 years, Kay, in 2020; his siblings, Lola, Melvin, Chloris Levis, Lucille Freiberg, Kathy Oetker, Virginia Hoop, and Ronald (in infancy). He is survived by his son, Ron (Kim) Snyder of Marshalltown; and grandchildren, Jessi (Cameron) Baethke and Brandon Snyder. He is also survived by his sister-in-law, Vickie Lacina (Dennis Dostal); brother-in-law, Bill Thornton; and dear nephew, William Thornton.

Paul’s family would like to express their gratitude for the wonderful care Westbrook Acres of Gladbrook provided to Paul his final months.

Per Paul’s wishes, cremation rites will take place. Visitation will be held from 4:00 until 5:00 P.M. on Wednesday, June 11, 2025 at Mitchell Family Funeral Home. Memorial donations may be directed to the family for later designation.
