Paul Eugene Welch Sr

Paul Eugene Welch Sr., 90, of St. Anthony, Iowa, passed away on Monday, April 14, 2014 under the care of the Iowa River Hospice Home in Marshalltown. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, April 19, 2014 at 11:00 a.m. at the Mitchell Family Funeral Home in Marshalltown. Public visitation will be held on Friday, April 18, 2014 from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. also at Mitchell Family Funeral Home. Paul Welch was born to Jean and Dora Reid Welch on November 20, 1923 in the Illinois Grove Community and graduated from Liberty High School in 1942. On January 12, 1946; Paul was united in marriage to Colleen Dillon in Kansas City, Kansas. Paul and Colleen called St. Anthony, Iowa home. Paul loved life on the farm. If he could just get out on his Oliver tractor, he was in the height of glory. Paul was a bus driver for twenty seven years; driving many miles each day, including a route to Marshalltown. He enjoyed going to the Old Foggies Club and coming home after gossiping and telling stories over breakfast, all hyped up to start his day. Paul enjoyed going camping and traveling. He also enjoyed watching his grandchildren and great grandchildren in any of their activities. Left to cherish his memory is his wife of 68 years; Colleen. Children: Paul Jr. (Linda) Welch, Steve Welch and Cheri (Mike) Nason. Grandchildren: Jeff Welch, Andy (Lara) Welch, Jon (Billie) Welch, Amy Welch, Stephanie Price, Matt Nason, Lisa (Justin) Halter and Jennifer Nason. Fifteen great grandchildren and a niece Betty Kitzman and her children and grandchildren. Preceding him in death are his parents, sister Mildred (Harry) Dunn, grandson Jesse Nason, granddaughter Andrea Welch and nephews Ralph Welch and John Kitzman.
