Paul Vanderley

Paul Henry Vanderley passed away on February 13, 2021 at Iowa River Hospice in Marshalltown, IA at age 76.  Last rites were given by Father Michael McAndrew of St. Francis of Assisi Parish. Mitchell Family Funeral Home will perform cremation. Paul was born on June 6, 1944 in Des Moines, IA to Wilbur Vanderley and Lillian (Friend) Vanderley. He graduated from North High School in 1963. For most of his adult life, he took pride in his custodial career at Drake University. Upon retirement, he lived in Ankeny, IA then moved to Marshalltown, IA in 2018.   Paul was loved by his family. He enjoyed time with his cat, Brody, building model cars, watching John Wayne western movies and sports on TV. His favorite teams included the Drake Bulldogs, Iowa State Cyclones, Chicago Bears, and Chicago Cubs.   Paul is survived by his brother, Gary (Paula) Vanderley of Marshalltown, niece, Missy Vanderley of Ankeny, niece, Mindy Tullis (Matt) of Marshalltown, nephew, Marc Vanderley (fiancé, Ashley Harris) of Des Moines, 5 great nieces/nephews and 2 great great nieces. He was preceded in death by his parents.   Memorial can be made in Paul’s name to be designated by his family at a later date.
