Paul T. Williams, 92, of Marshalltown, died early Tuesday morning, April 14th, at the MMSC. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Friday, April 17th, at the Central Christian Church with Rev. Gail Thiessen officiating. He will be laid to rest with full military honors by the VFW Harry C. Harter Post #839. Visitation will be held one-hour prior to the services at the church. Born on December 13th, 1916, near Marshalltown, he was the son of William E. and Amelia (Carter) Williams. He graduated from the Marshalltown High Schools Class of 1934. At a young age, at the Niederhauser Airfield, he met his future wife, Rachel Haire. The two were united in marriage and they made Marshalltown their home following his military career. Paul served our country honorably in the United States Army during WWII, and was stationed in Italy. He was a born leader and served as a captain over men in Georgia and overseas. Upon his return to the states, he was a finish carpenter and later foreman for commercial construction, being involved with building projects all over the city including MMSC and Wolfe Eye Clinic. Paul was a member of the Central Christian Church and enjoyed gardening, fishing, building things and reading. Left to cherish his memory are his loving wife Rachel, three sons: Bruce David (Sharon) Williams of Minneapolis and their family: Todd (Enid) Williams and Julie (Steve) Manuel (Elena and Eric); Clayton (Ann) Williams of Marshalltown and their children Eric Williams (Hayden, Evan and Emma) and Emily Williams; Kevin (Julie) Williams of Marshalltown and daughter Amie (Adam) Sutherland (Aaron and one on the way), grandchildren: Jason, Shane and Matt and step-granddaughter Shannon, as well as nieces, nephews, cousins and a host of friends. In death he has rejoined his parents, brother William Bill Jr., daughter Phyllis Diane Hunsaker, sisters Lucinda Draper and Garrah Schaper and step-grandson Dalton.
