Peggy Baker, 80, of 120 East Anson Street, Marshalltown, died early Monday morning, October 22nd, at her home while in the care of her loving family and the Iowa River Hospice. Funeral services celebrating her life will be held at 11:00 a.m. Thursday, October 25th, at the Mitchell Family Funeral Home. She will be laid to rest in the Rose Hill Memorial Gardens with a time of fellowship and refreshments to follow in the hospitality room of the funeral home. Friends may call from 5-7:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Memorials may be directed to the family. For condolences, please visit www.mitchellfh.com. Born Peggy Lou Riggins on July 16th, 1927, in Mason City, Iowa, she was the eldest of the children born to Carl and Unes (Lantz) Riggins. She received her education in the area of her birth. On October 16th, 1948, she was united in marriage to Darrel Baker in Albert Lea, Minnesota. They made their home in Marshalltown and near State Center/Melbourne until returning to Marshalltown in 1969 to their home on Anson Street. Peggy will be fondly remembered for her love of family, making candy at Christmas and giving it to all of her friends and family, her skills as a cook and baker and her famous cinnamon rolls. She will be greatly missed by many. Left to treasure her memory are her children: Kathy (Michael) Davis of Marshalltown, Sandra Baker of Marshalltown, Cheryl Kendrick of Loveland, CO., Teresa (Dan) Curley of Marshalltown, Darrel (Shelly) Baker of LeGrand, nine grandchildren, one great-granddaughter, three grand puppies, her brothers Jerry Riggins and Bob Riggins of Marshalltown and sister Phyllis Rickett of Marshalltown, nieces, nephews, very special niece Linda and a host of friends. In death she has rejoined her parents, husband Darrel, sister Evelyn and brothers Lance and Larry.
