Peggy Funke, 84, of Marshalltown, died Friday, July 19, 2013, at her home while under the care of Iowa River Hospice and her loving family. Funeral services for Peggy will be held at 2:00 p.m., Wednesday, July 24, 2013, at the Mitchell Family Funeral Home. Visitation for Peggy will take place at the funeral home on Wednesday from 1:00 p.m. until the time of service. Burial will take place at Rose Hill Memorial Gardens in Marshalltown. The Mitchell Family Funeral Home is caring for Peggy and her family. Peggy was born April 30, 1929, in Toledo, Iowa, the daughter of Jim and Gladys (Jones) Conaway. She was raised and educated in Toledo. Peggy graduated from the Toledo High School in 1947. Peggy was united in marriage to Bob Funke in Las Vegas, Nevada, in 1961. Following their marriage Peggy and Bob made their home in Marshalltown where Peggy worked for the Augustine Company. Peggy also served for many years as the last municipal Clerk of Court for Marshall County and at the time of her retirement was serving as Deputy Clerk of District Court for Marshall County. Peggy was a very talented artist. She enjoyed painting, drawing and woodworking. Peggy was a member of the Hope United Methodist Church and the Sunshine Girls Red Hat Club. Peggy is survived by her husband Robert Bob Funke of Marshalltown; her twin brother, Wayne Jiggs Conaway of Marshalltown; her favorite nephew, Jim Conaway of Marshalltown; several other nieces and nephews; and her pet dog, Skippy. Peggy was preceded in death by her parents, and her siblings: Dorothy, Earl, Ila, Betty, Connie, Bill and Leonard.
