Peggy (Fish) Street, age 82 of Gladbrook, passed away on Sunday, July 27, 2025 at Westbrook Acres.
Born Peggy Ann Fish on October 24, 1942 in Harlan, the daughter of Harry and Doris (Bergler) Fish. She attended Lincoln Elementary School and Gladbrook High School.
On November 25, 1960, Peggy was united in marriage with Darroll Street. The couple made their home in Gladbrook, where they raised their four sons: Larry, Emmett, David and Gregery.
After the kids left home, Peggy worked at the meat locker, cleaned the bank, and bartended at Easy Street, all in Gladbrook.
Peggy was a wonderful mother and later became a devoted grandmother. She was a Cub Scout leader while her boys were involved, and nearly never missed an event for the grandkids. Peggy enjoyed baking and cooking, famous for her cinnamon rolls and breads. Her grandchildren loved visiting grandma’s house, because Peggy always had a cookie jar ready for visitors. Peggy adored her family and made sure she was always a phone call away. Peggy loved to read and enjoyed playing cards, especially fond of thirty-one.
Peggy was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Darroll; sons, Larry and Emmett; daughter-in-law, Jill Street; grandchildren, Paul Wood and Jessica Street; and her siblings, Paul (Barb) Fish and Pat (Gary) Billerbeck. Left to cherish her memory are her sons, David (Laurie) Street of Gladbrook and Gregery Street of Raytown, MO; grandchildren, Kelsey Hartsoe, Devin (Joey) Hartsoe, Jamie Street, Brandon Street, Jordan (Seth) Thede, Taylor (Taylor Coons) Street, Gregery Street II, Emma Street, Matthew (Katlyn) Wood and Ryan (Faith) Wood; and 21 great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be held from 4:00 PM until 6:00 PM on Saturday, August 2, 2025 at Mitchell Family Funeral Home, with a funeral service beginning at 6:00 PM. Following services, Peggy will be cremated per her wishes. She will be laid to rest at a later date in Maple Hill Cemetery.
