Peter Frost

Peter Joseph Frost, 80, of Marshalltown, passed away on Friday, August 5, 2016 at his home with family and under the care of the Iowa River Hospice Home. Memorial services for Peter will be held at 10:00 a.m. Tuesday, August 9, 2016 at St Henrys Catholic Church in Marshalltown. Visitation will be held from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. Monday, August 8, 2016 at Mitchell Family Funeral Home in Marshalltown. Mitchell Family Funeral Home is caring for Peter and his family. Peter Frost was born at home in Jesup, Iowa to Lawrence and Josephine Frost. He graduated from St Johns High School in Independence, Iowa where he met his wife Mary Ellen McAleer. They were married on February 27, 1957 at St Johns Catholic Church in Independence. Six children were born to this union. He farmed for 8 years in the Jesup area, and then moved to Webster City where he bought the Chrysler Dealership. Due to the economy, he sold the business and moved to Garner, Iowa and started a new adventure selling Blue Cross-Blue Shield. It was that change that brought them to Marshalltown in 1971. Eventually wanting to sell cars again, he went to Jensen Ford. Peter enjoyed his tractors and went on several big tractor rides with his daughter Sue and enjoyed giving tractor rides to his grandchildren. He belonged to St Henrys Catholic Church and was involved in parish duties which included ushering and greeting. He also enjoyed visiting nursing homes, delivering Meals on Wheels and fixing wheel chairs at the hospital. Peter is survived by his wife of 59 years, Mary. Children: Susan Frost of Marshalltown, Janet Frost of Coon Rapids, Minnesota, Deb (Kevin) Bowie of Salisbury Maryland, Scott Frost of Coon Rapids, Jim (Erin) Frost of Coon Rapids and Bill (Heather) Frost of Lakeville, Minnesota. He is also survived by fifteen grandchildren and five great grandchildren. Peter is preceded in death by his folks, Lawrence and Josephine, brother Jack and nephew Greg.
