Philip David Wedgwood, 45, of Seattle, Washington, formerly of Marshalltown, Iowa, passed away on Saturday, May 27, 2017. Funeral services for Philip will be held at 12:00 p.m. on Wednesday, June 7, 2017 at New Hope Christian Church in Marshalltown. Visitation will be on Tuesday June 6, 2017 from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. at the Mitchell Family Funeral Home in Marshalltown. He will be laid to rest at Timber Creek Cemetery. Memorials may be directed to the family in Phils name for designation at a later date. Philip was born on December 30, 1971 in Marshalltown to David B. Wedgwood and Carolyn (Jamie) Worsfold Reed. Philip was known by Phil to most and Buddy to his big sis. He was a happy and mischievous little boy who was always full of smiles and laughs. As he grew, he developed a love for music and guitar as well as abstract art. Phil graduated from Marshalltown High School in 1990. He went on to receive his Bachelors Degree in Psychology from the University of Northern Iowa and then Masters Degree in Public Administration from Iowa State University. On October 4, 2008, Phil was united in marriage to Catherine Stone in Des Moines. At that time, Phil was employed in public relations for AAA in Des Moines, until suffering from a back injury. Phil was a very talented musician and artist and played with a number of rock bands through the years including Wicked Gypsy, Moto Grind, Knucklebone, The Disciples and Down on the Up Side. Phil was a person who loved everyone. He was very sensitive and had a huge heart. He touched so many lives, was very sociable and a great friend. He loved to express his creativity through art and music. He loved to go fishing, grilling out with friends and was a master at the grill as well. Phil is survived by his son Tanner (Allison) Metz, parents Mike and Jamie Worsfold Reed and David Wedgwood. Sister, Kelly (Dave) Mason; brothers: Jonathan Wedgwood, Stephen Wedgwood and Michael Wedgwood and a step brother Michael Reed. He is also survived by a niece and nephews, Jaymi, James and Jack Mason, as well as his dogs Frank, Maggie and Chewey, and many, many family members and good friends whom he also considered family. Philip is preceded in death by his grandparents, a step sister Allison (Corky) Reed Witte, and numerous others from his family.
