Phyllis Jean Eggers

Phyllis Eggers, 90 of Marshalltown passed away Tuesday, September 17, 2024, at the Iowa River Hospice House.

A graveside service will be held Saturday, September 21, 2024, at 10:00 A.M. at the Bethel Grove Cemetery, rural Albion Iowa. In lieu of flowers, memorials in Phyllis name may be made to Iowa River Hospice or Bethel Grove Cemetery. Mitchell Family Funeral Home has been entrusted with the care of Phyllis and her family. Phyllis was born to Cecil and Florence (Clay) Miller, January 6, 1934, on a farm in rural Beaman. Phyllis was raised in Marshalltown, graduating from Marshalltown High School in 1951. In her early adult life, she worked many years for Dr’s Long, Claussen and Maas, Optometrists. She later earned her LPN Certificate and retired in 1996. January 7, 1977, Phyllis married Wayne Eggers. They made their homes in Marshalltown, Guthrie Center, and Melbourne until finally returning to Marshalltown. They lived at the Village Cooperative where they enjoyed 11 years before moving to Glenwood Place in 2023.

Phyllis is survived by daughters Beth Brindle of Conrad, IA., Jill Muller of Fort Worth, TX., and Vona Muller of Harrison, AR., sister Peggy (Kenny) Lamb of Marshalltown, sister-in-law Erika Miller of Story City, IA.

Wayne’s children Kevin Eggers of Marshalltown, IA., Kayla (Brian) Danielson of Marshalltown, IA., Kristie (Craig) Borty and Kelly Fields both of Cedar Rapids, 10 grandchildren, 16 great grandchildren, and 3 great, great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents Cecil and Florence Miller, husband Wayne Eggers, daughter Anne Chance, brother Jerry Miller, sister Janet Foulkes, nephew Chris Perry, son-in-law Gary Brindle, and brothers-in-law Ross and Darwin Eggers.
