Phyllis Kerr

Phyllis Kerr, 91, of Marshalltown, died Thursday, August 25, at the Villa del Sol in Marshalltown wherehe has resided since August 15.Funeral services will be held at 1:30 p.m. Saturday, August 27, at the Mitchell Family Funeral Home. She will be laid to rest in the Riverside Cemetery. Visitation will be held one-hour prior to the services. Memorials may be directed to the Marshalltown Public Library or Iowa River Hospice. Born Phyllis Dobson on May 20, 1920, in the Indian Township of Tama County, Iowa, she was the daughter of Ward and Orpha (Harrah) Dobson. She attended country school in Marshalltown, Albion, and Melbourne and graduated from the LeGrand High Schools Class of 1938.On February 27, 1939, she was united in marriage to Robert Kerr at the Methodist Church parsonage in Marshalltown. They resided at Montour, Conrad, Liscomb and later Marshalltown where she was a homemaker and did childcare for 30 plus years. Left to cherish her memory is her children: Karen Kerr of Gainesville, Fl. Robert H. (Dee) Kerr, Jr. of Warrensburg, MO, Larry (Pat) Kerr of Marshalltown, and David (Toni) Kerr of Lawton, OK, Jerry Bingo (Becky) Kerr of Bellevue, WA, Roberta Kerr of Holden, MO, Kerry Kerr of Carol Stream, IL, and Brian (Kathi) Kerr of Marshalltown, IA, daughter-in-law Marilyn Kerr of Panaca, NV, as well as 17 grandchildren, 18 great-grandchildren and brother Jim Dobson in Arizona, as well as many nieces and nephews. In death, Phyllis rejoined her parents, her beloved husband Robert, son John, daughter Judy, grandson Stephen Kerr, step-grandson Jason Frohwein and siblings: Marshall Dobson, Erma Crawford, Doris Kerr, Joan Lovell and Lyle Dobson.
