In Loving Memory of Phyllis Louks

Phyllis Louks, a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and friend, passed away peacefully on Saturday, September 5, 2026, leaving behind a lifetime of love, laughter, cherished memories, and a family who will miss her more than words can express.

Phyllis loved her family more than anything in the world. They were the center of her life and her greatest source of pride and joy. She shared 63 wonderful years of marriage with her beloved husband, Gordon Louks. Together, they built a life filled with love, family, friendship, and countless memories. They had 3 children. Elizabeth (passed at birth), Troy, and Tiffany.

Her grandchildren held a very special place in her heart. She was a proud grandmother to Devin, Dalton, Paige and Lucas. Her love for each of them was unconditional, and the memories they shared with her will remain treasured forever.

Phyllis also shared a loving relationship with her twin brother, Tom and his wife Linda and her older brother Larry and his wife Mary. She loved her all her cousins, nieces, nephews, as well. Her family extended beyond those connected by blood, as she welcomed others into her heart and considered them family, including her son- in- law, Marty Ahlbach who she always teased as her favorite son- in- law, and Barbara Louks-Weidner her daughter- in- law who was married to Troy before his passing. Barbara was always more than just her daughter-in- law; she was always the Phyllis whisperer. Through her open-heart Phyllis welcomed Robin Weidner, into the family who is now married to Barbara, and she always loved their teasing relationship.

Phyllis found joy in the simple and beautiful things in life. She loved playing golf, spending time with her friends, and reading. She was a proud member of the Silver Fox Club, where she enjoyed the friendships and camaraderie that meant so much to her. For anyone who knows Phyllis knew her friends were her light and comfort especially Carolyn Vavra.

She also had a special love for anything that sparkled and shined. Phyllis had a way of bringing a little extra sparkle into the lives of those around. Her greatest legacy is the love she gave so freely and the family she cherished with all her heart.

Phyllis leaves behind her devoted husband Gordon; her daughter Tiffany Ahlbach (Marty Ahlbach) daughter- in- law Barbara Louks- Weidner (Robin Weidner); grandchildren, Devin Louks Briggs (Jacob Briggs), Dalton Louks and Paige Ahlbach; her twin brother, Tom Shollenbarger (Linda Shollenbarger); sister-in-law, Mary Shollenbarger; and many dear friends and loved ones.

She was preceded in death by her children, Elizabeth Louks and Troy Louks; her grandson, Lucas Ahlbach; her brother, Larry Shollenbarger her mother, Gertrude Paul; and her father, Kenneth Shollenbarger.

She loved deeply. She lived beautifully. And she will be loved forever.

A graveside service to remember Phyllis’ life and legacy will be held on Friday, September 11, 2026 beginning at 1:30 P.M. at Rose Hill Memorial Gardens Cemetery in Marshalltown, Iowa. In lieu of flowers, family asks that memorials in Phyllis’ name be directed to Iowa River Hospice or Unity Point Health Iowa Lutheran Hospital in Des Moines.
