Phyllis Maxine Simpson

Phyllis Maxine Simpson, 81, of Marshalltown, passed away on Monday, May 12, 2025 at Unity Point Health- Marshalltown Hospital.

Funeral services for Phyllis will be held on Saturday, May 17, 2025 at 7:00 p.m. at the Mitchell Family Funeral Home in Marshalltown. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service, beginning at 6:00 p.m. Memorials may be directed to the family. Phyllis Boge was born on June 5, 1943 in Marshalltown. She was the daughter of John and Lillian (Paustian) Boge. Phyllis graduated from Gladbrook High School in 1962.

Phyllis had previously worked as a bartender at The Spot, the old Marshalltown Hospital in housekeeping, Dunham Bush and at the Tama packing plant. She most recently retired from Meskwaki Casino as a laundry supervisor. Phyllis enjoyed being outdoors and tending to her plants. She was also an avid card player (Her favorite was Kings in the Corner). She enjoyed baking, ceramics and going to car shows.. Above all else, she cherished time spent with her family, especially her grandchildren.

Phyllis is survived by her children: Jody Gasca of Marshalltown, Mike Boge of Grinnell and Bill Simpson of Albion. Grandchildren: Kayla (Cullen) Brock, Dawhan (Brianne) Oliver, Ellie Simpson, Seaven Simpson and Draven Simpson. She is also survived by her great-grandchildren: Viviana Oliver, Amarah Simpson and Stetson Brock.

Phyllis is preceded in death by her parents: John and Lillian.
