Phyllis J. (Phil) Williams, 87, of Marshalltown, Iowa passed away July 15, 2013, at Southridge Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Marshalltown. She was born Phyllis Jean Shaver on March 7, 1926, in a rural farmhouse near Unionville, Missouri, the daughter of Noran Robert and Myrl (Herndon) Shaver. Phyllis graduated from New Providence High School with the class of 1943. She married Paul L. Williams in 1943 and, as a young bride during World War II, was a Rosie the Riveter in Oregon to support the war effort. Phil was a Mary Kay Cosmetics consultant for over twenty years, earning national distinction. She was a member of the local Red Hats group and enjoyed lifelong friendships with many women. Phil loved to garden and to plant flower gardens; she was a great cook and will be remembered for her secret recipe Christmas candy. Phil was an active member of New Hope Christian Church and was very involved in the American Legion Auxiliary. Phil married Edward Muzzy in 1989, and was widowed upon his death on April 22, 1998. Left to cherish her memory are her three sons, seven grandchildren and six great-grandchildren, along with her two sisters. Son, Willie Paul Williams (Suzanne Wyckoff) of Kansas City, Missouri; his children Shelley Leigh (Greg) Bastian of Davenport, Iowa, and Shannon Ann (Dean) Adams of Bozeman, Montana, along with Willies grandchildren Annabel and Jake Adams, and Alyanne and Abigail Bastian. Son, Randy (Jane) Williams of Lenexa, Kansas; their sons Case and Ryan, and daughter Taylor, and their grandson Hunter Williams, all of the metropolitan Kansas City area. Son, Traci (Gwenn) Williams of Urbandale, Iowa; their son Spencer of Portland, Oregon; daughter Natalie (Jake) Concienne, and their granddaughter Evangeline, all of Des Moines, Iowa. Sisters: Marcia Floyd of St. Anthony, Iowa and Patricia Sue Casey of Marshall, Michigan. In death Phil rejoins her parents, her brothers Larry Peck Shaver and Harold Red Shaver; and her husband Edward Muzzy. A memorial service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, August 3, 2013, at New Hope Christian Church in Marshalltown, Iowa, with a luncheon to follow at the church. Phylliss cremains will be interred at Melbourne Cemetery in a private service. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be directed to the family to be designated for Phils interests.
