Rachel A. McTurk, 62, of Marshalltown, died Friday, March 2, at the Marshalltown Medical & Surgical Center.Visitation for Rachel will be held from 5:00 p.m. 7:00 p.m., on Monday, March 5, at the Mitchell Family Funeral Home where her family will be present to greet friends. Funeral services for Rachel will be held at 1:30 p.m., Tuesday, March 6, at the Mitchell Family Funeral Home. In keeping with Rachels wishes her family requests that all in attendance come dressed casually in jeans or however they are most comfortable. Burial will follow services at the Marietta Cemetery located west of Marshalltown. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be directed in Rachels name to her family. Rachel was born April 6, 1949, in Marshalltown, Iowa, the daughter of Edward and Margarett (Menter) Bratland. She was raised and educated in Marshalltown attended the Marshalltown School System. Throughout her lifetime Rachel was employed by Marshalltown Trowel, Kiowa and Midwest Spring. Rachel was married to Rodney McTurk on January 17, 1976 and they later divorced. Above all she was devoted to her family and loved spending time with her grandchildren. Rachel took great care of both her grandparents and parents during their later years. She was there by their side every day, feeding, caring for and supporting them with whatever need they had until they passed away. In addition to caring for her parents and grandparents Rachel also helped at her daughters daycare. She enjoyed cooking and especially like to grill outdoors. She was a loving and devoted mother and grandmother who will be greatly missed by her family and friends. Rachel is survived by her daughter Jill (Shawn) Simatovich of Marshalltown, her three stepchildren, her sisters; Betty (Leonard) Boerm of Garwin and Janet (Steve) Priske of Marshalltown, her brothers; Chuck (Linda) Bratland of State Center and Randy Bratland of Marshalltown, her grandchildren Nathanial, Gavin and Chandler Simatovich, numerous nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews and a host of friends. Rachel was preceded in death by her parents Edward and Margarett, her brother Tom Bratland, her grandson in his infancy Creston Simatovich and numerous aunts and uncles.
