Ralph Longcor, 83, of the Iowa Veterans Home, went home to his Heavenly Father on Monday, April 13, 2009, with his family at his side. Funeral services will be at 1:00 p.m. on Monday, April 20, 2009, at the Iowa Veterans Home Chapel. Burial will be in the Iowa Veterans Home Cemetery. Visitation will be one hour prior to the funeral service on Monday. A memorial will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Wednesday, April 22, 2009, at the Muscatine Baptist Chapel. Ph 641-844-1234.Ralph Leo Longcor was born on November 10, 1925, in Belfast, Iowa. He was the son of James Anthony and Helen E. (Hand) Longcor. He attended school in Burlington, Iowa. He served his country honorably in the United States Marine Corps for 2 years, and then the United States Army for 18 years. Ralph retired from military service in 1967. He received several medals and citations. On October 9, 1974, he married Ruby (Rexene) Dick at Oak Street Baptist Church in Burlington. Ralph worked at HJ Heinz for 17 years, retiring in 1989. He was a member of the VFW, American Legion, and the Muscatine Baptist Chapel. He enjoyed NASCAR, fishing, hunting, and helping others. He was sweet, shy, gentle, and a good husband, father, and faithful friend.He is survived by his wife, Rexene, of Muscatine; his two children, Jenny Longcor of Muscatine, and James Longcor of Morning Sun; his 3 grandchildren, Bailey Longcor, Briyer Longcor, and BriAnn Longcor, all of Grandview, Iowa; his very special cousin, Louana Luke of Georgia; and several nieces and nephews.In death, he has rejoined his parents, his 4 brothers, Oliver Bert Longcor, Marion Crow, Floyd Crow, and Billy Crow; and his 2 sisters, Rosa Stanley and Lorraine Weikert.
