Ralph Maxwell, Sr., 82, of Marshalltown, died Thursday evening, November 12th, at the Iowa Veterans Home. Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m. Tuesday, November 17th, at the IVH Chapel. He will be laid to rest in the IVH Cemetery with full military honors by the VFW Harry C. Harter Post #839. Visitation will be held from 11:00 a.m. until the service time at the IVH Chapel. Born on September 12th, 1927, in Marshalltown, he was the son of Rev. Artice and Margaret (Bannon) Maxwell. He graduated from the Marshalltown High School and attended UNI. Ralph served our country honorably in the Korean War in the US Army. He was employed at many different places in Marshalltown, most recently Hy-Vee as a greeter. Left to cherish his memory are his five children: Marie (Jesus) Garcia, Jaenine (Michael) Stewart, Ralph (LaTrenda) Maxwell, Jr., Michel (Sheryl) Maxwell and Steve Maxwell all of Marshalltown, 14 grandchildren, 30 great-grandchildren, his siblings: Roger (Bunny) Maxwell of Des Moines, Margaret Honey Beavers of Los Angeles, Harriet Johnson of Des Moines and Shirley Cox of Des Moines as well as a host of friends, cousins and nieces and nephews. In death he has rejoined his parents and brother, Robert.
