Ralph Reeder, 61, of 1203 West Main Street, Marshalltown, died Sunday evening, January 21st, at his home while in care of his loving family and the Iowa River Hospice. Funeral services and a celebration of his life will be held at 1:30 p.m. Thursday, January 25th, at the Mitchell Family Funeral Home with Pastor Vincent Carman officiating. He will be laid to rest in the Riverside Cemetery with full military honors by the VFW Harry C. Harter Post #839. Friends may call at the Mitchell Family Funeral Home from 6-8:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Born on July12th, 1945, in Marshalltown, he was the son of Ralph and Lillian (Smith) Reeder. He graduated from the Newton High Schools Class of 1963. After this time, he served our country honorably in the United States Navy for four years. He was stationed on a submarine crew. On October 11th, 1969, he was united in marriage to Joyce McFadden. Ralph made his home in Marshalltown where he was employed with Fisher Controls totaling nearly 30 years until retiring in May of 2006. He was a member of the UAW Local #893. Ralph enjoyed cooking especially for Thanksgiving and having his family near. He enjoyed his grandchildren and was quite a practical joker. Left to celebrate his life are his children: James (Carrie) Reeder of Marshalltown, Carrie Reeder of Marshalltown and Rachel Reeder of Urbandale, his dear grandchildren Devon, Abigail and Hannah, former wife Joyce, sister Kate Reeder of Cedar Rapids and brother Gene of Marshalltown as well as many friends. In death he has rejoined his parents.
