Ramona Starn

Ramona K. Starn, 71, of Marshalltown, passed away May 1, 2022 at UnityPoint Health – Marshalltown. Per the wishes of Ramona and her family, no formal services will take place. Born Ramona Kay Neessen on October 2, 1950 in Eldora, she was the daughter of Richard and Dorothy (Johnson) Neessen. She grew up in the Grundy Center area and graduated from Wellsburg High School in 1969. She was united in marriage to Steven “Steve” Starn and lived in Marshalltown, where she worked at JBS. In her free time, Ramona enjoyed fishing, playing computer games, painting and watching westerns and old TV movies. She was very straight forward and loved to joke around. Ramona was a good cook, especially known for her homemade bread and her favorite holiday was Halloween. Left to cherish her memory are her children: Tina (Terry) Olmstead and BJ Ryerson; grandchildren: Brittany Ryerson, Richard Olmstead and Michaela and Kaden Ainsworth; her siblings: Jim (Shirley) Neessen, Mike (Connie) Neessen and Debbie (Reggie) Jaynes and numerous extended family members. Ramona is preceded in death by her husband, Steve Starn; her parents, Richard and Dorothy and three siblings: Judy (Warren) Cross, Sharon (Alan) Oelmann and LuRay (Pat) Neessen.
